How to Write a Novel – 3 Quick Tips
Book Research
So you have finally decided on the topic for a new book, where do you go from here? Well, unless it is a topic with which you are very familiar with, you must research your chosen subject. The aim is to become completely immersed in the time, culture and environment of your chosen field. You need to become so knowledgeable about it that your reader becomes completely enveloped in your story. This can only happen if your knowledge is first class. Can you imagine writing a book talking about a family taking photographs of each other on holiday only to find out that cameras came along twenty years after? As with most things in life it is better to sit down and work out a plan to do the research. There are many sources that could be considered. The internet is an obvious source but what about visiting a relevant museum? Interviewing people, either in person or on the telephone, is another option. What about newspaper archives, photographic collections, art galleries, libraries or other books from that period? Work out a plan based on your needs and what will work. Then set about your task with enthusiasm and professionalism. Remember that the quality of your book is going to be entirely based on the worthiness of the information that you are able to acquire. No matter what style of writing is your specialty, this will always be the case. Research adds a certain measure of realism to your writing, and the diligence with which you pursue the knowledge that you seek will be duly rewarded in the integrity and quality of your work. Find enough resources to obtain as many points of view as possible. Never accept only the things that you read or hear, and do not be afraid to ask questions. Base any judgments that you make on factual information, and be brave enough to challenge your own assumptions as well. Always be willing to consider other ideas and opinions. So there you have it! Come up with a plan and set about it with enthusiasm. Learn as much as possible about your chosen topic and turn that information into a piece of art that both you and the reader can enjoy.Direct article link: http://www.iwantabookpublisher.com/articles_for_writers/Book+Research/#article
